Burgers, pizza or food trucks, anyone? No, we’re not talking about the typical summer cookout. We’re talking five of Birmingham’s brand new openings, including popular burger joint, The Standard.

1. Ironstone Pizza | Trussville

Although you might have heard of Ironstone Pizza before, this spot has recently gotten a makeover. Brian Kemp, owner of Kemp’s Kitchen and Alpha Charlie Grill has just purchased Ironstone Pizza, keeping the menu but adding a few surprises.

This new spot is open now and they’re currently hiring! To learn more, text “APPLY” to 415-851-3180 with code 129272.

“We are using the original Ironstone menu and we’ve also added a few new things to the menu as well. We currently serve Neapolitan Pizza, not New York Style. Neapolitan is a high crust pizza, with kind of a brownish charred bottom and super cheesy. We offer many lunch specials from 11-2PM every day! I am just super excited that Ironstone Pizza finally has the management and ownership it has always deserved!

2. Chipotle | Homewood

More guac, please! Chipotle is adding some flavor to Lakeshore Parkway with its new dining room and drive through location—the “Chipotlane”. This new spot opened up June 30 and from what we can tell, is already a hit.

This lane makes it faster to pick up your online order without ever leaving your car. Sound like something you want to try? Swing by for a quick, nutritious dinner tonight.

3. Golden Cookie | Five Points

Golden Cookie in Five Points is one of Birmingham’s most sweetest new openings—serving delicious, warm cookies to the Five Points South area.

Using locally sourced ingredients, this shop bakes every cookie from scratch in house. Not a fan of cookies? No worries! Golden Cookie also serves up savory items, calorie conscious refreshments and vegan alternatives. Their grand opening is Thursday, July 7—just in time for The World Games! If you’re looking to take a post-game cookie break, this spot is for you.

4. The Standard | Vestavia Hills

Three cheers for burger lovers in Vestavia! The Standard is making its way into Vestavia City Center—right next to Taco Mama and the soon-to-be Davenport’s. So, what does this mean?

Vestavia City Center is on the move. With a open air space, guests can now choose from a variety of selections depending on their preferences. It’s perfect for group gatherings and larger parties. While there’s no opening date set for The Standard, keep an eye on the construction on their Instagram.

5. Liz Lane Gallery

Modern Artists
Add some color to your world with a piece from Liz Lane. (Liz Lane Gallery)

If you’re familiar with Liz Lane Art, you might know them as a gallery in Homewood. After an emergency move out of their Homewood location due to water damage, they’re excited to share that they will be BACK open in Hoover. This local artist, Liz Lane, is a Birmingham native focusing on abstract art that tells a story. Want to see some of her work? Head to her website.

Their grand opening is July 15 and they’ll be celebrating with great art, live music and wine.
