An entertainment district is an area designated for businesses with alcohol licenses to allow people to take drinks off the premises, as long as they remain within the district’s boundaries and it happens within certain hours of the day.

A good example of one would be Avondale in Birmingham.

Next up: an entertainment district in Calera

Entertainment districts are the kinds of places where people can go to concerts, hop around bars, or even just grab a bite to eat at the hot new restaurant. They help encourage people to go out and open new businesses and as a result builds up a city’s economy.

Calera’s new entertainment district will center around a design that currently includes a covered stage where bands can perform, an area where children can play, and a variety of other structures that should prove to liven up Calera’s downtown a bit.

While the final design may not be approved yet, there is already a great deal of interest from high-end hotel and restaurant owners in this new project. Stay tuned for updates as Calera continues to roll out its plans for the new entertainment district.
