Former Mountain Brook student, Gordon Sargent, wins big at NCAA golf tournament

Gordon Sargent has much to celebrate. The former Mountain Brook High School student just won the individual title at the 2022 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Golf Championship. But, he’s no stranger to the spotlight—read on for more on how the Vanderbilt freshman’s golf career is already off to an impressive start.
Gordon Sargent wins first prize
Just this week, Mountain Brook High School graduate Gordon Sargent won the individual title at the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Golf Championship held in Scottsdale, Arizona. Three cheers for the Vanderbilt freshman doing Bham proud!
According to USA Today, Sargent is only the ninth freshman in tournament history to win the individual national title. The former Spartan played an incredible round, and made birdie on the first playoff hole.
No stranger to the spotlight
Although it’s his first year in the college golf scene, Sargent is no stranger to the spotlight and has received some impressive accolades in the sport.
In 2021, he made headlines when he was named Male Golfer of the Year in USA Today’s first-ever National High School Sports Awards. Not a bad way to close out your high school career, huh?
