When new openings come to town, you know we’ve gotta get the inside scoop. So, we’ve got an exclusive inside look at Parkside on Fifth, Avondale’s new bar and eatery. Parkside serves up specialty cocktails on draft, plenty of domestic + craft beers, wine and more. Plus, local fave Asian fusion food truck, hotbox, will be returning to Parkside, with owners Ed Stacy and Ryan Champion taking charge of the food menu.

Get ready to jam, Bham. Furnace Fest, a DIY punk rock festival held at Sloss Furnaces, is back with another rockin’ lineup. After a long hiatus, the festival officially made its return last year and is taking place again this September. The three-day fest returns Thursday-Friday, September 23-25, 2022 with headliners like Thrice, Alexisonfire, Manchester Orchestra, Mastodon and more.

Good news! Food Giant is making its return to Birmingham, at the previous Winn Dixie location on 2220 Bessemer Road. Thanks to an incentive agreement from Mayor Woodfin and Birmingham City Council, a 25,000 sq. ft. Food Giant will be coming in early 2023. The agreement includes a 10-year revenue share that will be capped at $1 million. 

Dread River to launch first bourbon distilled in Birmingham, available May 1st

Bourbon lovers, get your glasses ready for a Birmingham-based pour. Dread River Distilling Company is officially launching the first commercial bourbon distilled in Birmingham in 100+ years: Dread River Bourbon. The special batch is distilled from a mash of corn, wheat and malted barley, aged for more than two years and finished in Caribbean rum casks. The complex and flavorful spirit is set to launch in May. Cheers!
