Monday, March 14—or 3.14—is National Pi Day. While some celebrate with mathematics, at Bham Now, we do it with food. We polled our audience to find out where to get the best pie in Birmingham, and the results are in! From coconut cream to crawfish (what?!)…. here are the top spots to grab a slice on this special day.
1. Demetri’s BBQ
Go for the barbecue, stay for the pie. The dessert menu at Demetri’s includes soul-soothing pies like coconut cream, chocolate and lemon meringue. Or, opt for an apple or peach turnover à la mode.

2. Edolyn’s Pies
Fulfill your pi(e) day goals with one that’s so good your eyes will close in delight. At Edolyn’s Pies, choose from four inch or nine inch in sweet potato, pecan, brownie, lemon chess and blueberry lemon chess. Mmm!

3. Jawanda’s Sweet Potato Pies
JaWanda’s may be known for its mind-blowing sweet potato pie, but that’s not the only flavor they offer. There’s also coconut pineapple, s’mores, pineapple creme and more!

4. Johnny Ray’s BBQ
On National Pi Day, Johnny Ray’s at the Colonnade on Highway 280 is the place to go for a tasty slice. All pies are made from scratch daily and come in banana, chocolate, coconut and lemon. Order a slice, half pie or whole pie.

One of my favorite springtime flavors is lemon, and Oak Hill Bar & Grill bakes up one of the best lemon ice box pies in Birmingham. Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself! Or consider the chocolate silk, caramel or coconut cream.
