Get ready for a food truck unlike any other. Sahani Bham has officially hit the streets of Birmingham to serve up some authentic Kenyan flavor. Owned by David Kimani, an avid cook, Sahani’s vision came to life in the height of the pandemic. Now, they serve all kinds of Kenyan fare incorporated with some of the classics that everyone might know and love. Be sure to hit them up for Nyama Choma Sunday (roasted meat served up fresh).

What’s next? Expanding the menu. Kimani says,

“A few more Kenyan dishes [will be] added to the menu soon on top of what we already serve.

A new pizzeria is headed to North Avondale. The highly esteemed Slim + Husky is taking their Nashville roots further south to open up Alabama’s first location. They’re known for their oval-shaped pizzas, delicious combinations and their tasty cinnamon rolls. “Pizza. Art. Music” is their motto and we can’t wait to see what they drum up as we get closer to opening time.

Not wanting to wait? Head to their website and get a frozen pizza shipped right to your door. Trust us, you can’t go wrong. We’ve got our eyes set on the Red Light Special already.

The new openings keep in coming and we’re definitely not mad about it. Welcome Troy Rhone Garden Design to the neighborhood, everybody. This new European garden antique store will serve as an extension to Troy Rhone’s established design business. This new spot is occupying the space of Maison, a home goods store which has since then relocated to across the street.

Since this new spot is all about garden design, there’s a possibility that they might start carrying gardening accessories and apparel according to a recent article by the Birmingham Business Journal.

5. Engineering for Kids

STEM, technology

The Engineering for Kids program has officially made its way to Hoover. This STEM educational program teaches students the value of bringing science, technology, engineering and math to the classroom. While there’s not an actual Engineering for Kids location, the curriculum is being taught in multiple local school districts.

They use a variety of camps, classes, events and so much more to make the world of STEM both fun and engaging. This also helps to educate children about different roles in the workforce with the growing need for tech and engineering roles.
