The Tracks

As reported by Bham Now in late 2020, The Tracks is a large multifamily apartment complex planned for an empty lot on 1st Avenue South. The build site is a 4.75-acre plot at the 2400 and 2500 blocks of 1st Avenue South, which was formerly owned by the T.E. Stevens Construction Company.

The Tracks is the first Alabama project from Indianapolis-based TWG Development, a firm with properties in Indianapolis, Washington, Colorado, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Georgia. According to an article by the Birmingham Business Journal, TWG Development is in the process of obtaining appropriate permits from the city of Birmingham in order to move forward with the project.

The Birmingham City Council previously approved the rezoning of the property from M-2, heavy industrial district to MU-H, mixed-use high district in late 2020.
