1. Shoppe on Broadway

Welcome to your newest shopping destination. Shoppe on Broadway is a new concept from the creative minds of Homewood: The Oxford Collection, WerThÄ“Goodz and Kat Bailey Interiors. Wanting a house or apartment makeover? They offer art, rugs, vintage goods, design services and much more. They’ve offered several sneak peeks on their Instagram, and we’ve had our eye on several of their finds. No more lusting over their Instagram—they’ve officially opened in Edgewood as of Saturday, January 8.

Not only do they sell cool things, but the building is full of fun accents like dark walls, exposed brick and wooden beams with a cozy vibe that is unmatched. These curated vintage finds could be the perfect pieces you’ve been searching for—stop by today to check it out.

2. Salty Bleu Coffee Co.

Get ready for a boutique coffee concept rooted in Cajun and coastal vibes—Salty Bleu is officially hitting the Birmingham market. Want some of your favorite beans to go? Dawn Courtney, founder of Salty Bleu, can make it happen. On top of online retail sales, Courtney caters coffee bars at local events—a great way to spice up your typical supermarket coffee and instant creamer at your next function.

By partnering with local roasters like Daysol, Courtney gets to sell on a local level and gives her city a little extra love. Her inspiration? Her health journey. When Courtney was diagnosed with a partial vision disability and retired early from a local hospital, she decided to embrace her entrepreneurial spirit and combine her journey of loss with the two things she’s passionate about: coffee and her need for saltwater. I’m sure some of us can agree with her on that one.

What’s next? Courtney says,

“Future plans? To open drive thru coffee houses all along the coast and obtain wholesale customers.”

3. Jeremiah’s Italian Ice

new Birmingham openings
Hard to think about a cold dessert right now, but in the Summer, we’ll be obsessed. (Jeremiah’s Italian Ice’s Instagram)

Ready to beat the Alabama heat this summer? Cool off later this year with one of these sweet treats from Jeremiah’s Italian Ice. This place is known all over but will be the first time that they have ventured to the state of Alabama. The Birmingham metro location will be based in the former KFC on Highway 280 and will bring the sweet life to this vacant space. The cherry on top? Alongside the new Chelsea location, they are also expanding to Madison and Dothan for the ultimate trifecta.

They don’t just serve Italian Ice, however. Ice cream lovers can get their fix of either soft ice cream or gelato as well. We can’t wait to try—whatever concoction is in looks absolutely heavenly.

4. Rush Bowls

Rush Bowls,
Rush Bowls is coming to 20th Street S. (Pat Byington / Bham Now)

If you’re looking to (occasionally) eat healthy on your lunch break like me, this place will be a game changer. Rush Bowls, a meals-in-a-bowl concept will make it easier than ever to get your daily fruits, vegetables and organic granola in with flavorful and colorful combinations. This will be Rush Bowls’ first brick and mortar location in Alabama and we are here for it.

Located in the former Momma Goldberg’s, this new Birmingham spot will sit right between Orangetheory Fitness and Pies and Pints. Counting down the days until they open? Us too—early 2022 seems to be the answer to their opening timeline, so if you see gourmet bowls and smoothies around 20th Street S, you’ll know where they came from.

We’ll catch you next Monday with more openings to rave about—one of our favorite pastimes. For now, give us a follow on Instagram to keep up with the latest.
