The cold never stopped local 15-year-old Grayson Hydinger from making his dream dog park a reality. Mountain Brook’s recently-opened Jemison Trail Dog Park was made possible by Grayson’s key efforts in designing, researching and raising the funds to build the park. The park officially opened to the public on January 4th, 2022.

All the de-tails

The park is conveniently located near Mountain Brook Village and the trail system. Since many people already walk their dogs in this area, it’s exciting to see this addition strengthen the community’s bond. Now your furry friends have a confined space to run and play off-leash while you get a chance to sit and relax.

Wanna know the best part? This mini dog park has a double-gated entrance—for easy in and out access—gravel paths, benches for owners and a dog water fountain. CUTE.

“There are a lot of families with dogs in Mountain Brook and very few public places for the dogs to be off leash to play and with other dogs.  Up until now the city only had one park and it is located at Cahaba River Walk, at the intersection of Overton Road and River Run Drive.  We saw how popular that one is and knew we needed a dog park in other neighborhoods.”

Shanda Williams, City of Mountain Brook Parks and Recreation Superintendent
