You’ve probably heard of Iron City, as it’s made a name for itself as one of the best concert venues in town, but did you know Iron City Grill has a menu that challenges the greatness of the music played next door. Fill up on new delicious new items from braised beef over roasted Brussel sprouts to fried oyster po-boys. Here’s your inside look at all the tasty dishes we tried.
From the Sea
Oyster Po-Boy
Are you really from the South if you haven’t had a good po-boy? This Louisiana classic is gracing the menu at Iron City just in time for the holidays. Bite into crispy fried oysters atop a grilled and buttered baguette. With a fresh bed of arugula and red onion to cut through the richness, this could be the perfect sandwich.
Seared Grouper & Grits
If you’re not a fish fan because of that fishy taste, grouper is the dish for you. Iron City Grill’s grouper is pan-seared to perfection on top of creamy cheese grits. On the side, you’ll find roasted baby rainbow carrots and blistered cherry tomatoes.
From the Land
Alabama Carnitas Bowl
Order the Alabama Carnitas Bowl at Iron City, and you’ll be greeted with a colorful bowl filled with yellow rice, braised turnip greens, cherry tomatoes, slow-cooked pork and pickled red onion. This hearty bowl is a fun Southern twist on traditional carnitas and is as delicious as it is beautiful.
Southern Fried Chicken
Fried chicken is a classic but this dish rises above the ordinary in both presentation and taste. The juicy chicken breast is fried crispy and served with smashed red potatoes so creamy they rank in the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever tasted. Pair that with collard greens and grilled onion gravy, and you’re set.
Braised Beef Cheek
Feel fancy with this dish worthy of a five-star restaurant. This delicious braised beef cheek is so tender you won’t even need a knife. Paired with a smooth parsnip purée and roasted Brussel sprouts, this dish is an amazing complement of flavors and textures.
A Sweet Finish
Apple Tart
Iron City Grill’s menu has a rotating weekly menu of tasty desserts to choose from. We tried their apple tart and peanut butter chocolate cookie sundae, and let me tell you it was to die for.
The apple tart is a great choice for those looking for something less sweet. The custardy bottom brings a strong vanilla flavor and subtle sweetness. On top, you’ll find a half-roasted apple that’s brûléed for a crunch.
PB Cookie Sundae
Get ready to indulge your sweet tooth with a peanut butter cookie sundae. This monster sundae has a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and peanut brittle.
