That’s right, I said SNOW. Dickens Christmas is your opportunity to experience the holiday magic in full force. The best part? This snowy wonderland is under three hours driving distance from Birmingham. It’s time for a road trip.

Dickens Christmas Celebration

Since 2015, Tishomingo County in Northeast Mississippi has hosted this fabulously festive evening. It’s filled with carolers, hot cocoa, a live nativity scene and more. Locals and guests alike get into the Christmas spirit as they peruse goods from specialty vendors.

Oh, and we can’t forget the snow. Dickens Christmas is held in Downtown Iuka, and it is transformed into a winter wonderland, thanks to the magic of snow machines. The town of roughly 3,000 residents is ready to welcome you!

“Dickens Christmas has become a family holiday tradition for people of all ages who visit Iuka’s Historic Downtown for unique shopping and dining experiences during the Christmas season. As a community-wide event, sponsored by IDEA, visitors are able to step back in time, slow down during the hustle and bustle of the season, and enjoy life of a simpler time in history by participating in the many exciting activities available during this event in Downtown Iuka.”

Who doesn’t love a good excuse to dress up? At this event, many choose to don attire inspired by the Charles Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol.

Some Tishomingo County attendees go all-out in themed attire, but you are welcome to come as you are too. No matter what you wear, you’re sure to be transported back to a simpler time. Sip your hot cocoa, watch the snow fall and maybe hit up a little bit of shopping…

Vendors welcome

Shoppers flock to Downtown Iuka’s stores during this signature event. And in past years, many local organizations have also served food and hot cocoa. Rumor has it Mr. and Mrs. Claus might be making an appearance…

You can expect to see specialty goods from local vendors, too. In fact, on the night of the event, any and all vendors are welcome to set up shop for free.
