Exciting news for the Lorna Ridge area—this new Pakistani and Indian grocery store is now open right where Deluxe Cleaners once was. Sabzi Mandi Market is your new go-to spot for those pantry staples and all of the cooking essentials if you’re making your favorite Indian dish this holiday season.

The owner plans to add a restaurant onto the market in early 2022, so be sure to check back for all of the details. We’re so excited to celebrate the opening of this new business.

2. SOCU Southern Kitchen and Oyster Bar

Oysters, anyone? SOCU, a new kitchen and oyster bar, is headed to The Pizitz in early 2022. Just a taste of what this new Birmingham opening is offering:

  • Candied Bacon/Fried Lobster Deviled Eggs
  • Cajun Chicken Spring Rolls
  • Charbroiled Oysters/SOCU Signature Oysters
  • So much more

Chef Erica Barrett, head chef and owner of SOCU, has certainly kept busy throughout her culinary career by opening the SOCU restaurant in Mobile, creating her own SOCU Kitchen line and becoming a published author with her cookbook titled Shuga & Seoul. Barrett has also been featured in Shark Tank and CNBC’s The Profit, so you know her food is top-notch.

Get ready for this delish new menu by stopping by other local Pizitz favorites such as Unos Tacos, The Louis and Ashley Macs. These Birmingham openings are simply irresistible.

Hooray for Hoover! A new breakfast and brunch spot is coming to the Brock’s Gap area and we’re thrilled that this Kentucky based company has decided to stick to their Southern roots. This franchise will be Alabama’s first and will feature an extensive menu. From the looks of it, you can’t go wrong.

These biscuits come in all shapes and forms—from savory, buttery biscuits to sweet shareable “bonuts” that are tossed in cinnamon sugar and served with your choice of chocolate gravy or bourbon cream cheese. This spot will be opening in early 2022, so be sure to keep an eye out for future opening announcements.

4. Goodwill—Lakeshore Parkway

Get ready to donate, Birmingham. Alabama Goodwill is opening their eighth donation center in the Birmingham metro area. It operates as drive thru only, so no getting out of the car is needed.

The timing is just right—just in time for the holiday season. Whether you are purging your closet and need to give your gently loved items a new home or are just in the spirit to give, Goodwill is the place to donate. While you give back to the community, you also help sustainable shopping efforts and provide jobs locally—a win win. Check them out now.

That’s all we’ve got for today, Birmingham. Got any opening news? We wanna hear it! Tell us on our Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.
