Oh. My Gourd. It’s pumpkin time and patches are officially open. Here are five to check out around Birmingham that offer loads of family-friendly activities and tons of pumpkins perfect for picking.

1. Griffin Farms

Located about 45 minutes from Birmingham in West Blocton, Alabama is Griffin Farms. 

Admission to this pumpkin patch grants you one pumpkin, plus access to a mega list of activities. Some to have on your radar include:

  • Corn Maze
  • Hamster Wheel
  • Hay Mountain
  • Truck Slide
  • 450’ zip line

Visit the patch on Saturdays and Sundays in October for food trucks like Cheese Louise, Devil Dawgs and La Mexicana.

For some pumpkin patch fun this October, head to Old Baker Farm in Harpersville. This U-Pick Farm is a local favorite due to its old-school charm and wide-open spaces. 

To enter the patch, purchase a pumpkin and visit the farm’s many fall-inspired attractions, such as:

  • Petting Zoo
  • Train Ride

Sunflowers and cotton bolls are also for sale. Be sure to grab some for your fall decorating needs.
