The City of Hoover, Hoover Fire Department is presenting the U.S. National Firefighter Challenge this week at the Hoover Met for its 2023 championship. Here’s what you need to know.

The Firefighter Challenge

Dr. Paul Davis founded the Firefighter Challenge three decades ago while he was conducting research on physical fitness and employment standards in the public sector at the University of Maryland.

The Firefighter Challenge is a competition that pits first responders against each other in a series activities firefighters perform in their profession.

The event attracts hundreds of firefighters across America each year. This year, the championship is being held at the Hoover Met.
