There’s huge news for all you Shipt fans out there. Today, September 9, the company has announced its largest nationwide expansion in three years. Read on for details.
About the expansion
I’m sure you know what Shipt is. In fact, I’m guessing you even use their service. I definitely do, and wow, has it been a game changer.
But, just so we’re all on the same page, here’s what you should know about the company:
- It’s headquartered right here in Birmingham.
- It offers same-day delivery for groceries, pet supplies, home goods + more from 130+ retailers.
- In May 2020, it took over the tallest building in Birmingham—the former Wells Fargo Tower.
The expansion of Shipt will include nearly 1,000 additional store locations from approximately 25 percent of its current retails, including Bed Bath & Beyond, CVS and GNC. This increases Shipt’s delivery range throughout 1,300 zip codes across the country—2M more households than before.
“This is the first time Shipt has expanded this way. Over the years, Shipt has launched one city at a time or rolled out a new retail partner nationwide, but this exciting coast-to-coast expansion is unlike anything we’ve done before.”Bridget Fruit, Chief Operating Officer, Shipt
What led to the expansion?
Well, the pandemic definitely played a hand in it. With more people now working from home and also trying to avoid crowds, there is a stronger need for delivery services on groceries and other essentials.
Me, I’m people. I literally used Shipt for a grocery delivery this morning.
“This expansion recognizes the importance of same-day delivery in people’s lives. We’re growing strategically and intentionally with a commitment to provide our customers with even more places to shop, retailers with the opportunity to reach new customers and Shipt Shoppers with even more flexible earning potential than ever before.”Bridget Fruit, Chief Operating Officer, Shipt
