Your astrological sign can tell you a lot about your personality and how you interact with the world, but did you know it can also help you pick what beer you should drink next? If you’re through drying out from National Beer Day, check out this list of local Birmingham beer and astrological sign pairings:

1. Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Known as the most unique, creative and “out-there” of the zodiac signs (and I say this as a proud Aquarian!) it’s naturally deserving of an equally wack-a-doodle beer. Enter: Ghost Train Brewing Company’s fruity, tart and hot pink Kaleidoscope Kettle Sour, featuring a fun and funky tie-dye label to boot.

2. Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

According to Ashley Moore, TrimTab bartender and a Pisces herself, the Margarita Lime Gose by TrimTab Brewing is the perfect brew for fellow Pisces to sip on. “Pisces are the fish of the zodiac, so it’d make sense to have something beachy and salty.” Cheers!

3. Aries (March 21-April 19)

The spitfires of the astrological signs, only the most zingy and surprising of brews will do. Interstellar Ginger Beer Co.’sGinger Colada is one of the more unique flavors you’ll come across in the Birmingham area, and perfectly tropical with summer right around the corner.

Now, I would never dare call a Gemini two-faced (*cough, cough*), so let’s just say our Gemini friends are known to be unpredictable – in the best way! Much like Avondale Brewing Co.’s Miss Fancy’s Tripel, aptly named after Avondale’s own favorite elephant famous for her never-ending bag of tricks.

6. Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Cancers are the friendliest, most loving and most empathetic signs of the bunch. You’re likely to find them staying up all night talking to a friend on the front porch or rallying the gang for an afternoon picnic in the park – with Cahaba Brewing Co.’s easy-going and approachable Cahaba American Blonde in hand.

7. Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

You won’t find anyone bolder or more passionate than a Leo, so why not reach for a bold beer like True Story Brewing’s Fabricator Double IPA to match? Citrus and hop-forward, this beer leaves a lasting impression much like any Leo you have the pleasure of meeting.

“[The] Truck Stop Honey Brown Ale is a very reliable and constant staple in Back Forty Beer Co.’s lineup, which aligns with Virgo’s consistent loyalty,” says Ashley Monroe (@brewedblackgirl). I couldn’t agree more with this logical beer and astrological sign pairing!

Famously known for being equal parts level-headed and fabulous, not just any ol’ beer will live up to their sophisticated expectations.

“It’s all about balance. Hence, I thought of Birmingham District Brewing Company’s Tropical Heat…The salt, fruit and heat from the jalapeno spice all balance beautifully so that no single aspect dominates and the flavors complement each other well.”

Jon Paolone, long-time cornerstone member of the Birmingham Craft Beer Drinkers

Fingers crossed they bring this Birmingham favorite back for the summer!

10. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

“I’d have to pick the Snake Handler Double IPA,” says Good People Brewing Co. bartender, Destiny. “It’s the most alcoholic beer we have, so I don’t know what that says about us Scorpios, but it’s one of the tastiest IPAs out there, too.” This tracks, as the kids say, with Scorpios’ classic sassy and enthusiastic natures.

11. Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Adventurous and philosophical, Sagittarians will want to reach for a pint of beer that peaks their curiosity. Ferus Artisan Ales’ Tracks & Fields Wild Farmhouse Ale is definitely a thinker: started with a base of rye and oats with steeped chamomile, then fermented and aged in chardonnay barrels for ten months, ending up with a fizzy concoction with notes of peach and apricots. While the rest of our brains explode, Sagittarians embrace the challenge!

12. Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan.19)

When it comes to astrological signs, there’s no one more responsible and traditional than a Capricorn. When it comes to beer, there’s none more traditional than a classic English-style pub ale. Which is exactly why Slag Heap Brewing’s smooth-drinking and low ABV Q’s Moneypenny Nitro is a Capricorn’s match made in responsible heaven.
