Pebblehurst Golf & Putter Lab, a new boutique golf shop & hangout, had a soft opening in Homewood on Saturday, April 10th, and we got an inside look. Stick around for all the details (and a few tee-rific golf puns while we’re at it).

On Saturday morning, owner and Homewood native Ron Smith opened Pebblehurst Golf & Putter Lab’s first brick & mortar location in downtown Homewood. Inside the store, you’ll find PGA-certified golf instructors, a golf simulator and outdoor putting green, the latest golf equipment & accessories and much more.

Plus, Pebblehurst carries variety of boutique golf brands you won’t find at the big box stores. For example, they carry a rare set of Fujimoto golf club wedges. This set of custom, hand-engraved wedges and irons is one of only twenty in the world. In fact, Pebblehurst is the only carrier of Fujimoto equipment in the United States.

We spoke with owner and founder of Pebblehurst Golf & Putter Lab, Ron Smith, to learn more.

Where does the name “Pebblehurst” come from?

Ron: “My grandfather encouraged my love of golf from a very young age, and a few years back we took a trip to the Pebble Beach Golf Links and followed it up with a trip to the Pinehurst Golf Course. Pebblehurst is a combination of those two names, and my way of dedicating the store to my granddad.”

What kind of products can people find at Pebblehurst?

Ron: “We’re really a one-stop-shop for everything golf. We offer about a dozen boutique, high-quality brands and carry clothing, accessories, equipment—you name it. We also offer PGA-certified instruction, and we can do custom club fittings as well. I’m very excited to bring attention to some of the products out there that most people aren’t familar with.”

Is it a coincidence that Pebblehurst had a soft opening on Masters Weekend?

Ron: “Of course not! Our store isn’t 100% complete—we have an outdoor putting green going in next week—but I knew we couldn’t miss The Masters. It’s the perfect weekend to open.”
