Reading time: 2 minutes
We’re sad to say goodbye to local, family-owned specialty food company, Spoon & Ladle. You may be familiar with them from The Pizitz Food Hall and as a vendor at the Market at Pepper Place. Keep reading to learn all the deets.
Time to stock up, Birmingham
The Bham Now team were big fans of Spoon & Ladle when they had a brick and mortar at The Pizitz Food Hall. Unfortunately, the company closed their stall to focus on their wholesale operations last year.
Now the owners have decided to cease wholesale operations, but it’s not all doom and gloom. After careful consideration the owners are ready to retire after a fun seven years in business.
The husband and wife duo Monty and Kelly Todd, began Spoon & Ladle in 2014 and since then they’ve made their products available all over the Birmingham area in locations like:
- Piggly Wiggle
- Beef O’ Brady’s
- Great Harvest Bread Company
- Retail outlet in Pelham
“As I’m sure the case is for many of us, COVID-19 has caused a reassessment of our lives, both personal and professional. We knew we were at the crossroads of our business: to ramp up production for larger retail locations or to scale back and focus on our personal lives. For us, ending this journey now is the right decision.”
Kelly Todd, co-owner of Spoon & Ladle
Spoon & Ladle will stop all production by the end of February 2021. If you want to get your hands on their products one more time, stop by a local store that carries their products. Once it’s gone, it’s gone so make sure to savor that warm bowl.
“We will always cherish our time providing fresh, delicious meals to the city we call home. Although we will certainly miss many aspects of this experience, Kelly and I look forward to what the future holds for us here in Birmingham.”
Monty Todd, co-owner of Spoon & Ladle
