Birmingham native Caleb Castille becomes series regular on NCIS: Los Angeles
Attention NCIS: Los Angeles fans! Birmingham native and former Alabama football cornerback Caleb Castille has been made a series regular.
Caleb appeared as FBI agent Devin Rountree in three episodes of the hit CBS show’s 11th season. Now, in its 12th season, Caleb has been promoted to a series regular moving forward.
What does this mean? Well, it looks like fans of the show can expect much more of FBI Agent Devin Rountree.
From Alabama football to professional acting
Are you an Alabama football fan? Then get ready to say roll tide! Caleb was a cornerback for the Crimson Tide in 2011 and 2012 when Alabama won back-to-back national championships.
After an amazing winning streak, Caleb quit the team in 2013 to pursue a professional acting career. While some may have deemed it an unwise decision at the time, it wasn’t long before Caleb landed his first real role in the film Woodlawn.
Woodlawn? As in Birmingham’s Woodlawn? Yep, that’s the one.
The movie, which took place and was filmed in Woodlawn, cast Caleb as the lead actor’s double in the movie’s football scenes. But, when the star had to drop out of the film, Caleb went from double to lead role opposite Jon Voight.
Football Runs Deep
Woodlawn tells the story of Tony Nathan, an up-and-coming NFL football running back who was one of the first black players at Woodlawn High School. Caleb played Tony in the movie.
What’s especially cool about this is that Tony was also a football player at the University of Alabama and was on the same team as Caleb’s father, Jeremiah Castille.
Here are some of the other roles you may have seen Caleb in:
- Season 2 of the CBS All Access anthology thriller Tell Me a Story
- Season 1 of Hulu’s Wu-Tang: An American Saga
- Netflix feature The World We Make
- Independent feature Run the Race
