We were so sad to see Woodlawn Cycle Cafe announce their closure in July, but this news has us smiling once again!

According to the Birmingham Business Journal, owner Armand Margjeka and his team plan to open Buka, a neighborhood wine shop, market and takeaway cafe, in West Homewood this December.

Buka will be located in the newly renovated 186 Building, located at 186 Oxmoor Road in Homewood. We recently covered the building’s history and its makeover—read all about it here.

Buka will be a wine shop, and also offer market options like meats, cheese, fresh bread, house-made spreads and more. They’ll have a cafe menu focused on seasonal produce as well.

West Homewood is Hot

West Homewood is on the up-and-up, and we loving seeing it happen. We published seven reasons we’re obsessed with the area last year, and Buka’s new neighbors Pizzeria GM and Seeds Coffee Co. both made our list.

Grab your picnic materials from Buka and enjoy your spread in Patriot Park, just right down the road.

Buka is set to open this December, and you can bet we’ll be some of the first to check it out.
