Make-A-Wish Alabama does so much incredible work, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of them. If not, here’s what you need to know: this organization creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

The Alabama chapter is headquartered right here in Birmingham! Even though this is a national organization, all operations take place at a grassroots level within the state of Alabama.

Not only is Make-A-Wish Alabama a fantastic cause—it’s a cause that can’t exist without your help. The average cost of a wish is $8,000 and one wish is granted every 48 hours in Alabama.

Funds raised here in Birmingham directly support the mission of granting wishes to Alabama children with volunteers across the state working directly with wish families.

The North Central Alabama chapter has granted 296 wishes to local children. Currently, there are 65 North Central kids waiting on their wish—and they need your help.

95% of parents shared that the wish experience provided their child with the opportunity to view their life as more than an illness. You can make that happen for children in our city.

Thomas is 13 years old and has three younger siblings. He was diagnosed with cancer and underwent chemotherapy, radiation and multiple hospital stays during his treatment.

Thomas wished to have a “gaming room”—a complete bedroom makeover with a new gaming computer system! He is now in remission but goes to Children’s for maintenance treatment.

Thomas wished for the gaming room because during treatment he had to quit baseball and basketball, leave school and was unable to see his friends for weeks at a time.

During this time of fear and loneliness, he was able to video chat and play video games with those friends to stay connected. Several of those friends attended his wish reveal in October.

Supporting Make-A-Wish Alabama helps bring wishes like Thomas’ to life!
