With cold weather rolling in, you’ll crave something warm and comforting—like meatloaf and mashed potatoes. On Friday, October 18, celebrate National Meatloaf Day with a belly-satisfying dish at these five spots in Birmingham.
If you’re seeking a restaurant that’s upscale and stylish with an American menu, you’ll find it at Bricktop’s on Highway 280.
From soups and salads to seafood and steak, there are many classic dishes to choose from. But when a restaurant serves classics like these, you know meatloaf must be on the menu. And it is!
Served as an entree, Bricktop’s Prime Meatloaf is made with USDA Prime Sirloin and served with creamy whipped potatoes (or baked potato if you prefer). Price—$24.

El Barrio is such a fun place to grab a meal in Birmingham. It’s inspired by multi-regional Mexican cuisine, shows off an upbeat urban design and uses locally sourced ingredients.
While their menu includes many Mexican favorites like chips and salsa, tacos and quesadillas, I suggest you try something different—the Grilled Chorizo Meatloaf.
For $15, this dish features spinach, Cotija mashed potatoes and ranchera sauce.
Any wonder why locals rave about it?
