5 places to take your used running shoes in Birmingham
Reading time: 2 minutes

Earlier this week, we told you about 10 fall runs coming up in Birmingham. Are you getting some new kicks for the occasion? Is it time for some new ones anyway? If so, here are the spots in Birmingham where you can take your used ones.
1) The Trak Shak

Both Trak Shak locations accept used running shoes. I took two pairs to the Homewood store earlier this week. Various groups in need will pick them up from here.
Location: Homewood: 2839 18th St S, Birmingham, AL 35209, 280: 4700 US-280 #9, Birmingham, AL 35242
2) Fleet Feet Birmingham
Fleet Feet will also take those used shoes off your hands. They work with a group called Eco Sneakers, which donates or repurposes them depending on the shape they’re in. Fleet Feet receives 50 cents from Eco Sneakers for each pair of shoes, which they then give to programming that fights obesity.
Location: 3060 Healthy Way Suite 100, Birmingham, AL 35243
3) Be a Blessing Birmingham

Be a Blessing Birmingham collects items for distribution to homeless citizens in downtown Birmingham. You can take your running shoes to any of their dropoff locations around town.
4) Goodwill
Goodwill is another option for donating those shoes. Revenue from Goodwill’s stores provides job training, job placement, sheltered employment, and job readiness classes for disadvantaged members of our community.
Location: 2350 Green Springs Highway South, Birmingham, Alabama 35205
5) The Salvation Army
Try a new pair of running shoes that just isn’t working for you? I’ve been there. You can also take gently used running shoes to the Salvation Army–those shoes might be perfect for someone else!
Location: 809 Green Springs Hwy, Homewood, AL 35209
