The Junior League of Birmingham (JLB) is a local organization of “approximately 2,300 women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.” Their Shop Save, & Share (SSS) fundraiser focuses on raising money that goes straight back into the community towards one of JLB’s 35+ community partners.

For a $40 donation, shoppers can purchase their SSS card starting Sept. 10.  With the SSS card, you’ll get a 20% discount at participating retailers—that’s 400+ restaurants, shops and more all over Birmingham. Cards can be purchased online or in person at specific retailers.

Maybe you want to get a head start on your Christmas shopping, or maybe you have a list of new local restaurants you want to try—the SSS card is the perfect way to support local businesses AND nonprofits in Birmingham.

Who Benefits From the Fundraiser?

Profits from the Shop Save & Share fundraiser benefit the nearly 40 community projects of the Junior League of Birmingham. Just one $40 donation for the SSS card would provide:

  • Necessities for 4 survivors of sexual violence through the Crisis Center of Birmingham.
  • 10 meals for homeless women and children through Pathways.
  • 240 diapers for families in need through the Junior League’s Diaper Bank.
  • One tank of gas for the Yummy Truck, the Junior League’s mobile teaching kitchen.

… Just to name a few. Visit their site to see the full list of JLB community projects—who will all benefit from this fundraiser.

According to their site, “the JLB raised over $80,000, and since its inception, Shop Save & Save has put over $700,000 back into our community.”  WOW.

Virginia Moore, Junior League of Birmingham’s Shop Save and Share Chair: “By purchasing a Shop Save & Share card customers have a direct impact on improving our local community, but it also allows customers to save money at the same time.

This year the sale runs through Auburn and Alabama bye weekends and away games which means it’s a great time to get out and support our local retailers and restaurants while giving back to our community!”

It’s so cool to see all these businesses coming together for such a good cause.

Don’t forget to purchase your card before Oct. 2. You seriously don’t want to miss these deals, and an awesome chance to give back to Birmingham.
