Nations Boutique, a women’s clothing store, is celebrating the grand opening of its second location in Downtown Homewood’s main retail corridor at 2856-B 18th Street South next door to Cookie Fix. Read more on their mission + see photos inside their brand new space.

Founded in 2009 by Lisa Muir-Taylor, Nations sell a variety of women’s clothing items and accessories. From dresses and jumpers to handbags and jewelry, the selection is colorfully curated and trendy.

Nation’s Boutique wants you to “Do Beautiful.”

According to their site, their vision is to promote inner beauty and positive self image with the phrase, “Do Beautiful.”

“Instead of focusing on outer appearance—which is constantly withering and never enough—we long for beauty that is unshakable, deep within us. When we DO Beautiful, we FEEL Beautiful. When we FEEL Beautiful, true beauty will radiate from within, transforming us to LOOK BEAUTIFUL.”

Muir-Taylor told the BBJ:

“We really do believe it’s not the clothes that make a woman beautiful. It’s the woman that makes the clothes beautiful. We try to encourage people to go out and make a difference for other people. And we believe that when you’re doing beautiful for others, you actually feel beautiful inside and it radiates.”

Along with their uplifting mission, Nations also donates a portion of its proceeds to nonprofits across the Birmingham area such as Habitat for Humanity, Kings Home and Sozo Children.

This fall, they’re partnering with King’s Home Shelby, a long-term transitional home accommodating up to 50 abused and/or homeless women and children. And they’ll also partner with Sozo Children, a nonprofit that cares for over 120 children in Uganda

George Elliot: “I was delighted to assist Nations Boutique in selecting a store location that will highlight their positive message and bring in new customers. Downtown Homewood is such a special retail environment, and Nations will fit right in with its new neighbors.”
