A vacant lot along Highway 31 that’s sat empty since a 2016 fire is now home to Ace of the Hills, a new hardware store opening at 680 Olde Town Road in Vestavia Hills, next to Chuck E. Cheese.

The store is owned by April and Chris Edwards, who also own Rainbow Paint just across the highway. After running the paint store for about four years, the couple decided the area needed more than paint.

We kind of looked up and down, and we thought we could really use a good hardware store. It’s so far to go to Home Depot or Lowe’s, and it was kind of like one thing that was missing in this area.

Rainbow Paint moves under one roof

Once they landed the lot, the Edwards decided to consolidate. Rainbow Paint has closed, and everything from that store — paint, wallpaper and window treatments — has moved into the new building alongside Ace’s full hardware lineup.

We’ve got paint, wallpaper, window treatments, like all the decorating type stuff, plus everything that Ace has now.
