Good news. Whether you’re downtown or over the mountain, you’re still close to a sushi burrito fix at Wasabi Juan’s. However, this Birmingham original has done some moving around in recent months. So where can you find Wasabi Juan’s? Bham Now used our benevolent sleuthing powers to make it easy for you.
1. Find Wasabi Juan’s at The Battery
In January 2019, we said a fond farewell to Wasabi Juan’s first location in Avondale.
Then we said “Hello, 4:20 Nachos” to a brand-new location at The Battery at 2201 2nd Ave South, Birmingham, Alabama 35233, less than two miles away from the original.
Find Wasabi Juan’s, starting from Avondale: beginning at 41st Street, take a quick jaunt west on 3rd Ave South. Turn right on 23rd Street. Then turn left on 2nd Ave South. Wasabi Juan’s at The Battery will be on your left.
Find Wasabi Juan’s, starting from the downtown business district: take the 22nd Street bridge over the tracks. When you reach the light at 2nd Ave South, you can’t miss The Battery (and Wasabi Juan’s) on the corner to your left.
Why We’re Stoked
The Battery is Birmingham’s cool new development in the historic BEBCO building, and it’s full of local businesses, including Wasabi Juan’s.
After you order up, saunter over with your food to Birmingham District Brewing Company to grab a beer. On a nice day, dine in The Battery’s shared courtyard and play a game of Giant Connect Four.
The boutique fitness studio True40 is also at The Battery. So after your workout, you can swing by Wasabi Juan’s for a healthy lunch or dinner. Doing the low-carb or keto thing? Order your sushi burrito with cabbage instead of rice.
Wasabi Juan’s friendly new neighbors at The Battery also include Original B’ham Apparel Company and (coming soon) Birmingham Pedal Tours. It’s one big happy family over there.
2. Find Wasabi Juan’s on Hwy 280
Last fall, Wasabi Juan’s moved its former Hoover restaurant to a new location at 5037 Hwy 280 Birmingham, Alabama 35242. What makes this Wasabi Juan’s location unique? Because it’s not adjacent to a brewery, it serves beer and wine! Enjoy local brews from Good People and Avondale Brewing.
Find Wasabi Juan’s, starting from The Summit: Travel south/east on Hwy 280 for 3.1 miles, then turn left—it’s one of the only places you can turn left on the highway (how convenient!). After you turn, you’ll see Wasabi Juan’s down the hill on your right, before you reach T.J. Maxx.
Find Wasabi Juan’s, starting from Hugh Daniel Drive: Travel north/west on Hwy 280 for 1.5 miles, then turn right. You’ll see Wasabi Juan’s down the hill on your right, before you reach T.J. Maxx. (If you miss the entrance, take your next right on Cahaba Beach Road. Then take the first right. You’ll pass Iron Tribe Fitness, and the access road ends right at Wasabi Juan’s.)
Why We’re Stoked
This new Wasabi Juan’s location is super close to Cahaba Heights and The Summit, as well as the neighborhood of Greystone. It’s a great place to fuel up after a hike at Oak Mountain or a workout at Iron Tribe Fitness—or before you get your DIY on at the nearby Home Depot. Plus, the outdoor patio offers a pretty sweet view.
3. Follow the Food Truck
Wasabi Juan’s food truck posts its schedule on Instagram at @wasabijuantogo. The Trussville area is a frequent stop.
