Hallie Ringle of Harlem, New York selected to be Birmingham Museum of Art’s newest Hugh Kaul Curator for Contemporary Art; plans to begin work on November 1st

The Birmingham Museum of Art (BMA) has named Hallie Ringle the new Hugh Kaul Curator for Contemporary Art. Ringle will be coming to Birmingham from her current home of New York where she works in Harlem at the Studio Museum as an assistant curator. She will begin working at the BMA on November 1, 2018.

A Little Backstory

Ringle started her career at the Studio Museum as an intern when she was attending the University of Texas at Austin for grad school. Her focus was in contemporary African art, so the Studio Museum was an obvious choice, as it is one of the leading institutions in the world for showcasing work by artists of African descent. After graduation, she moved to New York and was hired as a curatorial assistant, which then led to her becoming the Senior Curatorial Assistant at the Studio Museum. In 2016, she became their Assistant Curator.

Dr. Graham Boettcher, director at the BMA, is excited for Ringle to begin work in Birmingham. He states:
