Located in the heart of Pepper Place at 3000 3rd Avenue S., Blueprint on 3rd opened its doors on June 19th, and it is already making an impact on Birmingham with its industrial interiors and hearty American cuisine.
A dinner-only restaurant, Blueprint works to pay homage to regional cuisines in addition to those that are popular in other cities around the country such as: Chicago, New Orleans, Kansas City, and more. With dishes like “BLT Tortellini”, “Blueprint Poutine”, and “Colorado Beef Tartare ‘Mardi Gras Style'”, the menu is fun and fresh.
Dean Robb
Owned and operated by Birmingham restaurant veteran Dean Robb, Robb brings a great deal of experience in the food industry to the table, having completed a 17-year partnership with Frank Stitt as the General Manager of Bottega Restaurant and Bottega Café. From there Robb went on to open restaurants, Watermark and Miro Distrct, in Nashville before returning back to Birmingham to work with Jim Keet, CEO of Taziki’s, as Vice President and help take Taziki’s from 11 locations to 63. Robb partnered with Keet to create Blueprint on 3rd.
Restaurant Design
With the Sloss Furnaces serving as the idyllic industrial background, Blueprint was designed with an industrial art deco dining room and zinc-top bar. Windows and large garage doors surround customers, giving an open-air feel to the restaurant.
Blueprint on 3rd describes itself as a “polished-casual American brasserie” with bold local dishes like “Duck & Dumplings” which is served with local mushrooms, Vidalia petals, and charred carrots. Yum!
While you’re there try a cocktail, all of which were created by Robb and his team. Like bourbon? You’re Doing Great blends citrus notes with Earl Grey bitters. For something wild, the #ThrowBackThursday features rum and absinthe.
