Did you notice the long lines, sometimes 400 people deep, Wednesday morning in Hoover? The Whole Foods grand opening in the former Riverchase Village brought out huge crowds. Hoover has eagerly awaited the opening of the organic-grocery giant for almost 3 years.
As several local news crews covered the grand opening, Store leader, Jason Stonicher explained to them that Whole Foods offers many options and varieties for shoppers. He recommended the wonderful, freshly cooked eat-in options and the many prepared meals ready to take home.
The 40,000 square foot store, at the southeast corner of U.S. 31 and Lorna Road, will also include a Birmingham favorite, Revelator Coffee Company. Don’t miss the nifty barbecue and beer venue, Hops ‘n’ Sauce, right in the store.
And more good news! The high-end organic grocery company, based in Austin, TX, just got a bit more affordable with the takeover by Amazon earlier this year. Whole Foods has lowered the prices on some favorites and basics by 43% since Amazon stepped in.
Just before the doors opened for the first customers, Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato told the eager crowd “We’re excited about the opening of the store and what it means for the city of Hoover.” So…a new place to buy high-quality organic provisions, and continued job opportunities for the Birmingham area.
