Holiday Drive-In Captioned Movie

Adjacent Space presents a holiday drive-in captioned movie on December 13th at 6:00pm. All proceeds will directly benefit Adjacent Space’s mission to promote visual-tactile accessible and equitable spaces. This event is made possible and sponsored by Regions Bank and Sorenson.

First come first serve! Make sure to get there early to find the right spot! Gates will open at 5:00pm. Tickets to reserve your parking spot are $25 per vehicle which includes:

  • Your parking spot
  • Two complimentary bags of popcorn
  • Two movies (double feature)

REFUND POLICY

Tickets are refundable 30 days or more before the event.

In the case of severe weather, if Grand River Drive-In cancels the event, Adjacent Space will notify ticket holders and refund up to $21.90 (to cover Eventbrite fees) or the ticket holder will have the option to donate the ticket.

 

GRAND RIVER POLICIES

All guests must remain within their movie screen area (Screen Two to view either the movie “Polar Express” or “Elf”).

Grand River is not held liable for any properyy left on the premises after the event’s conclusion.

No smoking will be permitted in The Backyard area.

No outside food or drink will be allowed on the premises. Violation of this could result in the termination of the event which may mean that the ticket holder may be asked to leave without a refund.

Guests must be praciticing safe social distancing measures and wear a mask.

About the Charity: Sugarbelle Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Birmingham, AL that is dedicated to keeping pets and people together by helping struggling families afford pet care. Our goal is to prevent families from having to make the difficult decision to surrender their pets to overcrowded and under-resourced animal shelters when there may be another solution or temporary relief available allowing them to stay together.

Junior League of Birmingham’s Virtual Market Noel

The Junior League of Birmingham (JLB) is bringing a sleigh full of holiday cheer during its first virtual Market Noel, taking place Nov. 17-22, 2020. As a result of COVID-19 safety precautions, shopping will occur through a virtual marketplace and all special events will be held virtually. With the purchase of a $15 General Admission ticket, patrons have access to the Market Noel virtual marketplace Tuesday, Nov. 17 through Sunday, Nov. 22. The online market features more than 50 stores from across the nation. With items including home decor, clothing and accessories, gift and holiday items, food and much more, there is something for everyone. The virtual marketplace allows customers to shop their favorite stores from the comfort and safety of their own home while still supporting the Junior League’s mission.

Market Noel will consist of various virtual events throughout the week of Nov. 16-22, including Preview Noel, JLB hearts Birmingham, Jingle and Flamingle Fiesta Pack, Brunch with the Big Guy and Market Noel 2020 Flamingle & Flock. For the best way to experience Market Noel’s holiday party packs, you can purchase a $250 Ho! Ho! Proceeds from Market Noel go directly back into the community through the JLB’s 40 community projects benefiting women and children in need in Birmingham. In 2019, over $218,000 was raised from the event; these funds helped provide 84 packs of diapers to the JLB Diaper Bank, prepare 84 meals to elderly persons in Jefferson County through Meals on Wheels and allow over 84 provisional members to receive leadership training through the JLB’s annual provisional retreat.

The glamorous, diamond-studded gala will take place on Saturday, August 15 from 6-10pm at Regions Field Event Venue in Downtown Birmingham.

Following the reception, guests will enjoy an elegant seated dinner and the official debut of our 2020 Picasso Pets paintings. 10th Annual Head Over Teal 5K/10K Family Fall Festival

Come join the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation (LCBF) for the 10th annual Head Over Teal Race Day & Fall Festival on Saturday, September 21st at The Preserve in Hoover, AL.  There will be 10k and 5k race courses, live music, food and beverage options, inflatables and face painting for children, as well as an awards ceremony for race winners!

Headliner: Jermaine “FunnyMaine” Johnson was born in Opelika, AL. FunnyMaine is a lifetime class clown and a professional comedian since 2005. His talent has taken him from small stages, to large arenas, television and radio. He’s featured for Kevin Hart, Steve Harvey, Rickey Smiley, Tony Rock, Tommy Davidson and many others. FunnyMaine is perhaps best known for his online college football videos, where he’s turned the ups and downs of Crimson Tide fandom into an art form. Feature: Carla “The Truth” Youngblood was born in Birmingham, AL and is a professional comedienne and motivational speaker providing encouragement and joy with humor. Carla takes pride in being a comedienne who tells it like it is, hence the stage name “The Truth”. In October 2015, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer….she had to talk about. “It is my therapy” says Youngblood. After having 16 rounds of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and 28 treatments of radiation, she created a show titled “The Truth” about Breast Cancer where she shares her experiences in a unique and hysterical way. This show lead to her being featured on Inside Her Story with Jacque Reid on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show!

Host: Beth Bloomfield was born in Chicago but has lived in New York, Miami, and more than 20 years in Los Angeles. She’s now bringing the funny in Birmingham, AL. She is the co-founder/co-producer of Grown Up Comedy, which hosts a weekly stand-up comedy open mic show in Hoover and a monthly showcase in Vestavia Hills featuring comics from throughout the South. Beth’s brand of comedy has been described as that of the soft-spoken, intelligent but wickedly funny “square.” Her comedy stems from sharp writing and jokes that spring from everyday life and love, as well as her non-Southerner’s fresh take on living in the South.

5th Annual Bocce Bash

Please join us for the Crisis Center Junior Board’s 5th Annual Bocce Bash and fundraiser! This is one of our favorite events, where we enjoy a full day of games, drinks, food, and fun in the sun.

What is Bocce? Bocce is a cross between skeeball, bowling and shuffleboard. Even players who have never played before have a great time – and can win!

Bocce Bash is a unique annual event that offers a chance to get competitive for a great cause. Proceeds raised support the Crisis Center’s Michael K. Falligant Scholarship Fund, which is awarded on an annual basis to individuals who are in an advanced degree program in the helping profession, including counseling, social work and nursing.

Players and spectators receive 2 drink tickets and food with ticket purchase as well as the chance to enjoy music and additional activities during the event.

3rd Annual Southern Cookin’Showdown

The 3rd Annual Southern Cookin’ Showdown, a family-friendly food event,returns to Shelby County this spring. SafeHouse of Shelby County will host the event, with proceeds benefiting its domestic and sexual violence response and prevention programs. The cooking competition will feature four-member teams of both amateurs and professionals competing in categories including Sweets, Meats, and Fixin’s. A panel of judges will determine winners in each category, and guests at the event may sample all of the entries and vote for the People’s Choice award.

The Southern Cookin’ Showdown will begin at 11am and end at 2pm on Saturday, April 27th at Pelham Park. In addition to taste-testing, attendees will also enjoy live music and kids’ activities will be offered.
