$580K renovation project for downtown Birmingham’s Taylor Building

One of the oldest buildings in downtown Birmingham’s Historic Theatre and Retail District is getting a facelift. Owner Engineering Design Technologies is investing roughly $580K in both structural and cosmetic renovations on the three-story Taylor Building, right across from the McWane Science Center.

The Upstairs Comedy Series Presents: Billy Wayne Davis

Avondale Brewing Company is proud to announce stand-up comedian Billy Wayne Davis as the first performer for its new Upstairs Comedy Series, which will bring nationally touring stand-up comics to downtown Birmingham. Hosted by comedian and Birmingham-native Wes Van Horn, the series aims to connect Birmingham comedy lovers with professional acts seen on television, in films, and more – as they tour the country. Initial performer Billy Wayne Davis has appeared on Conan, Last Comic Standing, WTF w/Marc Maron, voiced characters on Adult Swim’s SquidBillies, hosted a documentary for CMT, opened for Sturgill Simpson’s Living the Dream Tour, and released 2 comedy albums, “Billy Wayne Davis” & “Billy Wayne Davis: Live at Third Man Records.” Originally from Tennessee, he now resides in Los Angeles. The show will start at 8pm and be located upstairs. Tickets are on sale now at avondalebrewing.com. Ticket price is $12 for all advanced tickets leading up to the show day and $15 for those purchasing at the door on the day of the show.
