It’s about FREEDOM: Because when no one – not even you – can see you, your inhibitions fade away. When was the last time you danced like no one was watching? No more self-consciousness, judgments or social worries. In the dark, you’re free to move your body however you want or need to. In a room full of women, you’re free to dance your dance with total abandon. It’s about RELEASE: Just an hour of SOL reduces stress, clears mental blocks, energizes your physical body, and lifts your spirits. It’s about FUN: Bored with your cardio routine? Part dance party, part workout – we play a mix of eclectic dance tunes (changes weekly) designed to get you moving in different ways to different beats. It’s not your typical “workout”. It’s about EXPRESSION: We provide you a safe place to express yourself at your own pace, your own way: dance, sing, laugh, shout, cry, punch, kick, stretch, it’s your hour to be in your moment, in your power. You’ll leave feeling strong and exhilarated. Cost: $10 Non-Members/$5 LJCC Members
I’m a lifelong fan of dance, and am privileged to know some incredible male dancers. So when there was a recent brouhaha over Good Morning America host Lara Spencer giggling at the idea of Britain’s Prince George lacing up his ballet slippers, it seemed like the perfect time to introduce y’all to three amazing male dancers right here in Birmingham.
They’ve got a message for all the young guys out there, too (and the rest of us). So, if you love dance too, read on.
Please join us for an evening of live music and dance at the beautiful Clubhouse on Highland! We’re thrilled to have Dan Sartain‘s all-star country band and Henry Dunkle here to get us movin’ and groovin’ on the best dance floors in town!
Pay what you can to support these fine artists (suggested sliding scale donation of $10-20). All are welcomed to join us regardless of monetary contribution. Cash bar by donation.
Danielle Elizabeth and Ben Jammin’ Dill will also teach a FREE partner dancing lesson to get you moving with grace on the dance floor! We’ll go over the fundamentals of frame and connection, and teach ya some footwork basics like the two-step! No partner needed to join in.
So shine up those dance shoes folks, and get out and support some live, local music at this fun community event! And bring your mamas and your babies too cause you know they love to bust a move!
Clubhouse on Highland is a safe and affirming space where individuals from all racial and ethnic backgrounds, genders and sexual identities, and belief systems are welcomed.
