Notes These times have been extremely difficult for our families. We are working daily to provide updated information and resources. We scheduled Virtual Sibshops for typically developing siblings that have a brother or sister with a different ability. ASA has offered Family Grants to families that have a loved one with autism and are fighting COVID-19 as an essential worker. This will help them cover the cost of care for their loved one, since many childcare centers and schools are closed. During April will usually hold Walks for Autism throughout Alabama. Due to COVID-19 we will be hosting a Virtual Walk on April 2nd, World Autism Awareness and Acceptance Day. This will allow families and individuals to show their support for the 1 in 59 from the safety other own home.

Notes Girls Inc. was founded in 1864 to serve girls and young women who were experiencing upheaval in the aftermath of the Civil War. Across the decades, we adapted to meet the specific environmental challenges facing girls and young women, always working in partnership with schools and communities, and guided by our founders’ fundamental belief in the inherent potential of each girl. Woven into those early girls’ clubs are the same core values of Girls Inc. today: the importance of creating a safe gathering place for girls to learn and to share in a sisterhood, and a strong premise that each girl can develop her own capacities, self- confidence, and grow up healthy, educated, and independent.
