Major Gifts Officer

Position Summary

  • Support the Major Gifts team and Resource Development Department with cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors ($10,000+).
  • Work closely with fundraising volunteer committees and manage a portfolio of select major donors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level service to major donors, focusing on efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness.
  • Recruit, train, and support major donor volunteers and committees.
  • Manage Tocqueville Society membership, including stewardship and relationship management with current members, and solicitation of new members.
  • Collaborate with finance and corporate relations departments to maintain accurate donor database.
  • Prospect for new and existing donors with the capacity or propensity to increase their giving.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments.
  • Prepare fundraising reports for volunteers and organizational leaders.
  • Represent United Way at corporate and community events.
  • Support Major Gifts team with correspondence, events, and day-to-day operations.
  • Stay informed on community economic and social factors affecting the growth of the Major Gifts Division.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to build and manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals, families, and business leaders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in database management.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree required.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of successful fundraising experience, with a preference for experience in United Way or similar organizations.
  • Major donor experience preferred.

Required:

  • Reliable transportation.
  • Proof of automobile insurance.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment, with some travel and occasional overtime.
