Be sure to say hello to featured artist Carolyn Lambert Wass, who will be on hand with her textured sculptures. Her love of clay and pop culture are hard to resist!

“I am a ceramics sculptor … I really like pop culture and urban legends, monsters … even things like Steven Spielberg and movie imagery.” Wass said. “I’m really loose with imagery; I’m allowed to with the type of clay that I choose. I do fire, not a high fire … so I’m allowed to keep all these colors. I have a background as a painter, so the clay, once it’s fired, is basically like a three-dimensional painting,” Wass said.

Wass is an instructor at Samford Academy of the Arts and teaches classes all over Birmingham, especially classes for children—her specialty. She’s the owner of Carolyn Lambert Wass Studios and is a graduate of the University of Montevallo. You can also find her work at festivals around the South.
