FIREHOUSE SHELTER HOSTS INAUGURAL FIREHOUSE OF HOPE GALA

September 28, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Firehouse of Hope Gala

Grand Bohemian Hotel Mountain Brook

September 28, 5:30-9:00

Honoring the Dunn Companies, Firehouse Shelter is hosting its inaugural Firehouse of Hope Gala at the Grand Bohemian Hotel Mountain Brook on September 28 from 5:30-9:00 to raise money for the shelter and support its medical respite care program.

The Dunn Companies have been longtime supporters of Firehouse Shelter, faithfully providing financial as well as volunteer support. The new Firehouse Shelter on 2nd Avenue North, built by Dunn Construction, won the 2021 Building of the Year from the Metal Building Contractors and Erectors Association (MBCEA).

The gala will feature a live auction from Granger Auctions, entertainment, and opportunities for guests to learn how Firehouse Shelter serves individuals experiencing homelessness in Birmingham.

Auction items include trips to Tuscany, Antigua, Costa Rica, and Chateau Meichtry in Ellijay, Georgia as well as a dinner for 12 by Chef George Sarris, fine dining restaurant packages, and more. For more information, please visit https://firehouseshelter.com/firehouse-of-hope-gala-2023/.

Firehouse Shelter is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and currently averages 70-100 men in its overnight emergency shelter. In addition to the emergency shelter, it offers a robust housing program that encompasses the needs of the homeless male population in Birmingham, Alabama. Firehouse Shelter provides a greater volume of services than any other homeless agency in Birmingham and is committed to providing comprehensive services to the city’s chronically homeless.

Firehouse Shelter’s medical respite care program is the only program of its kind in Alabama serving homeless men with acute illnesses and injuries who are not sick enough to be

hospitalized but too sick to live on the streets. With ten beds, the shelter provides a clean, quiet, dignified place for recovery.
