Choko born and raised in Japan began studying classical piano at the age of three going on to study piano, violin, voice and music theory at Colleges in Tokyo and Fukuoka as well as making journeys to the United States to study jazz in LA and NY.
While living in Japan as a full time musician she played the Blue Note Fukuoka, Motion Blue Yokohama, made a Shanghai Music Tour, Japan and her “Imagination” album made in LA in 2011 was featured in that years February issue of “JAZZIZ” magazine. Choko who was playing many genres in Japan to include jazz, salsa, latin, classical, gospel, and pops left her long time group Tri- Voices and other long associated bands to relocate to Alabama in January 2013 after meeting her husband, a runner sent to Japan by the Birmingham Truck Club.
Since that time Choko has enjoyed playing in the Magic City at many of its local venues which include the Choko Aiken Sextet Jazz Concert at The Lyric for the Birmingham Music Club, Choko Aiken Combo band at Jazz in the Park Series (many times), Birmingham Super-jazz Big Band guest performer (3 times), The 4th Avenue Jazz Festival (Birmingham) (twice), Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame guest performer, Eric Essex Jazz Escape Festival, Monthly Starlight venue Sonny Harris Trio with Choko Aiken and Cleve Eaton, Monthly Choko Aiken Combo at The Perfect Note in Hoover, Sylacauga & Pell City Libraries, Host Band leader for The Ferus 41st monthly Jazz Jam Sessions, Mt. Brook Arts Festival, Choko Aiken Concert at the Shelby County Arts Council, Weekly Workplay Theatre Jazz Quartet, 2016, 2018 Main Stage headliner, 2023, Japan Music tour to include the Nakasu Jazz Festival in Fukuoka, Japan, 2022 April Riverfront Concert Montgomery, and as the Choko Aiken Combo at numerous other local music festivals and countless private gigs.
Choko always looks forward to continuing on with her main goal of
simply making people “Happy” with her music!
