The third annual Black Belt Birding Festival in Greensboro, Alabama will take place on August 4 & 5, 2023. Highlighting the birds, history, and heritage of Alabama’s Black Belt region, the festival offers rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of many species of birds in a natural environment.
“As the Southeast’s largest prairie ecosystem, the Black Belt is unique unto itself. There is nowhere else you can find Wood Storks and Swallow-tailed Kites alongside Dickcissels and Scissor-tailed Flycatchers. We are committed to fostering connections in the region so that more people, from all over, have the opportunity to experience this extraordinary place.” —Dr. Scot Duncan, Executive Director of Alabama Audubon

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Black Belt Birding Festival aims to increase accessibility, and to provide entertainment and learning experiences for all members of the community and new visitors to the area. It will provide many of the popular offerings from previous years and many new opportunities thanks to the continued investment of Alabama Audubon partners.
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
Through more than seventy-five years of conservation work in one of our nation’s most ecologically rich states, Alabama Audubon has seen firsthand how diversity strengthens natural communities. This same principle applies to human communities, which is why our organization is committed to providing equitable and inclusive opportunities for all Alabamians to learn about and enjoy wild birds, their habitats, and the natural world. One of the best ways to support that belief is by valuing and actively seeking to strengthen diversity among our staff, our board, and our membership. To that end, Alabama Audubon welcomes everyone to participate in our work, and strives to make our programs, classes, and events welcome, inclusive, and accessible to all.
