Alabama Energy Infrastructure Training Center and Network Aims to Equip Alabama Workforce for Energy Industry

March 27, 2024 @ 2:30 pm

The Alabama Energy Infrastructure Training Center and Network is a new program aimed at equipping Alabama workers for the energy industry. The program is a workforce development partnership between the Alabama State Legislature, the Alabama Community College System and Alabama Power.

The training center seeks to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in the energy sector by providing training opportunities that will help equip Alabama’s workforce with the necessary skills to thrive in this dynamic industry. The primary location is an expansion of the HVAC Training Center in Jasper, Ala., a long-standing partnership between Bevill State Community College and Alabama Power, and will involve the construction of a new building that is currently in the architectural planning phase.

In addition to the Bevill State location, the program will also include the ability to support remote training at community colleges across the state. The training pathways include the following: Electric Vehicles, Connectivity, PV Solar/Microgrid, HVAC and Weatherization.

On Wednesday, March 27, at 2:30 p.m., the AEITCN is hosting an announcement program and reception to celebrate the program’s launch at the HVAC Training Center in Jasper. Speaking at the event will be Alabama Senate Pro Temp Greg Reed, Alabama Power President and CEO Jeff Peoples, Chancellor of the Alabama Community College System Jimmy H. Baker and President of Bevill State Joel Hagood.

The media is welcome to attend. Select speakers will be available following the program for interviews. A camera platform for TV coverage of the program and will be provided. We look forward to seeing our media partners there and answering any questions that you may have.
