Southern DanceWorks is launching a performance program-building initiative called Tiny Danz at East Village Arts in Birmingham’s East Lake community, consisting of three Open Studio events in July, August and September of 2023 featuring both established choreographers and emerging choreographers per event. The project also includes community choreography workshops, a choreographer mentoring program, and guided audience talkbacks after each performance.

The performance at East Village Arts, a non-profit artist collective, begins at 6:30 pm and will conclude with a Q&A conversation. The September showcase features works by international and national choreographers – Kieron Sargeant, Maxine Montilus, Vanessa Martinez de Bańos and Ashley Carter of DoubleTake Dance, Will Ervin, Jr, and Victor Temple of New World Ballet. Admission is free and donations are graciously accepted.
