Fifteen new building permits were issued this past week across Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million. These permits were for projects primarily in the Huntsville and Birmingham metros.

A $9.4 million permit was issued for the ongoing expansion project at UAB Hospital’s North Pavilion.

Expansion of UAB Hospital’s North Pavilion

Expansion to the North Pavilion is part of the $73 million expansion of the University Emergency Department.

The expansion project includes:

  • Renovations to the first floor of UAB Hospital’s North Pavilion.
  • Turning the adjacent atrium into clinical care space
  • Construction of a new three-story space in the drop-off drive of North Pavilion

Brasfield & Gorrie is the lead contractor for this project.
