Daxko, the Birmingham-founded software company serving the health, fitness and wellness industry, announced Thursday, Oct. 22 that it will relocate its global headquarters to downtown Birmingham.

Daxko headquarters: What to know

The new headquarters, which will be located at 1728 Third Avenue North, is planned to open April 2027.

All Birmingham-based employees, of which there are around 130, will move from the company’s current Homewood office, part of a global team of more than 850. Daxko projects its Birmingham team will grow to 200+ over the next three years.

Why Daxko is moving to downtown Birmingham

The company said in its announcement that it outgrew its Homewood space. The new building will include an onsite fitness studio and an attached parking garage. Birmingham-based employees will work a hybrid schedule of two to three days a week in the office.

Mayor Randall Woodfin said the move signals confidence in the city:

“Having a global company of this caliber choose downtown Birmingham as its headquarters is a tremendous vote of confidence in our city, and it’s proof that Birmingham is where world-class businesses come to grow.”

REV Birmingham, the nonprofit that supported site selection, said the location puts Daxko alongside the district’s existing innovation ecosystem.

The company plans to open the space for community events and said it will announce partnerships and events tied to its grand opening in the months ahead. It will also host customer roundtables, conferences and advisory board meetings there.

Daxko’s Birmingham tech roots

Daxko, which was founded in 1998, was among the state’s first software companies. Its alumni went on to found Fleetio, Airship, Partner Fleet, Grades First, Boulo Solutions and Compose, among others.

“This move is, in many ways, a homecoming. Daxko helped establish Birmingham’s earliest tech roots. Today, as the city’s downtown has become a hub for innovation and talent, we’re returning to be part of that energy.”
