The disappearance and death of an Alabama teenager is the subject of a forthcoming Netflix documentary titled “Taken: Natalee Holloway“. Netflix to spotlight disappearance of Natalee Holloway
In 2005, Mountain Brook High School graduate Natalee Holloway disappeared during a class trip to Aruba. What followed was a two-decade-long nightmare in which investigators and Natalee’s mother, Beth Holloway, searched relentlessly for answers.
Although Natalee was officially declared dead in 2012, her disappearance remained a high-profile missing-persons case until late 2023, when Dutch national Joran van der Sloot confessed to Natalee’s murder. Following the confession, van der Sloot was sentenced to 20 years in prison for extortion and wire fraud, served concurrently with a 28-year prison sentence in Peru for the 2010 murder of Stephany Flores.

Netflix’s upcoming three-part documentary series will tell the story through the eyes of those closest to Natalee, including her mother and friends who were with her on that fateful trip.
