It’s a new week in the Magic City, and that means a new roundup of businesses popping up across town.
From a Yemeni coffee shop coming to Highway 280 to a local chef bringing Asian fusion to Cahaba Heights, here are three new businesses that should be on your radar. Plus, three local businesses were saying farewell to.

1. Abhi Vestavia | Cahaba Heights

Local chef Abhi Sainju, owner and chef of Abhi Eatery + Bar and Maro, is opening Abhi Vestavia. The new Asian fusion restaurant is expected to open by the end of November 2026 in the former Satterfields location.
The new Abhi location will offer many of Sainju’s greatest hits like the familiar ramen and sushi dishes served at his other restaurants, Abhi Eatery + Bar and Maro in Mountain Brook, with the addition of new dishes inspired by Sainju’s recent travels.
The restaurant will feature a 100-seat dining room, sushi bar, cocktail bar and a private event venue.

- Opening date: Late November 2026
2. Shibam Coffee Company | Highway 280

If you’ve been looking for a new coffee fix in Birmingham, you’re in luck. Shibam Coffee Co.—a Michigan-based coffee chain known for its Yemeni coffee traditions and cozy, late-night hangout vibes—is preparing to open its first Alabama location in Inverness along US-280.
We met with owner Mahmoud for a sneak peek ahead of Shibam Coffee Co.’s soft opening on Saturday, October 24.

4. A-Train Station | West End

A-Train Station, the popular food truck and restaurant, is closing its Birmingham West End neighborhood location.
Established in December 2022 at 1515 Pearson Ave SW, the spot was known for its Dewon Moten train mural and a unique brand of wings, Philly Cheesesteaks, loaded fries, $10 specials and Soul Food Sundays.
The good news? You can still get your A-Train Station fix in Alabaster and from the food truck.
5. Costa’s Mediterranean Cafe | Trussville

Trussville’s dining scene looks a bit different this week. Costa’s Mediterranean Cafe has temporarily closed its location on Chalkville Mountain Road, and its future remains up in the air.
While there are no signs posted at the restaurant stating the closure, Costa’s gave diners some insight with a Facebook post announcing a liquidation sale of its kitchen equipment.
The Birmingham Business Journal (BBJ) confirmed the temporary closure of the Trussville location on October 13. According to the BBJ, Costa’s owner Christina Kanellis Christopoulos cited health concerns, the physical demands of running the restaurant and lease-related issues as factors in the decision. The restaurant could potentially reopen if a new owner takes over.
6. Home Accents Pelham | Pelham
A home decor retailer in Pelham has closed its doors, leaving a storefront available along one of the area’s main roadways. Home Accents Pelham, located at 2750 Pelham Parkway, shut down last week.
Co-owner Lisa Stubbs shared on the store’s social media page that the decision to close was a personal one made by her family.
