Trussville’s dining scene looks a bit different this week. Costa’s Mediterranean Cafe has temporarily closed its location on Chalkville Mountain Road, and its future remains up in the air.

Here’s what we know.

Costa’s Mediterranean Cafe in Trussville is temporarily closed

If you tried to dine at Costa’s Mediterranean Cafe off Chalkville Mountain Road at 5891 Trussville Crossings Parkway over the past few days, you may have been surprised to find a vacant parking lot and a closed restaurant.

While there are no signs posted at the restaurant stating the closure, Costa’s gave diners some insight with a Facebook post announcing a liquidation sale of its kitchen equipment.

The Birmingham Business Journal (BBJ) confirmed the temporary closure of the Trussville location on October 13. According to the BBJ, Costa’s owner Christina Kanellis Christopoulos cited health concerns, the physical demands of running the restaurant and lease-related issues as factors in the decision. The restaurant could potentially reopen if a new owner takes over.

Costa’s Mediterranean Cafe in Hoover remains open

There is some good news for Costa’s fans: The restaurant’s Hoover location on Lorna Road remains open, and there have been no reports indicating that a closure is to come.

Where: 3443 Lorna Rd, Hoover, AL 35216
