A playground construction boom is happening in the Birmingham-metro area.

Last week, the City of Moody announced it will be replacing the playground at Moody City Park, with a new design that offers more inclusive play opportunities for children of all ages and abilities.

What’s coming to Moody City Park’s new playground

Construction will begin on Moody City’s Park’s playground in late Fall/early Winter 2026 and last until Spring 2027.

Some of the new equipment will include:

Slides
Swings
Shade awnings

Over the past year Bham Now has reported on the construction of five new local playgrounds throughout the Birmingham metro area.

Here is a list of the playgrounds built in the past year:

Leed’s Moton Park
Norwood Park in Birmingham
YMCA in Hoover
Bessie Estell Park – Braelynn’s Way – in Glen Iris neighborhood
Rickwood State Park Playground
