Changes with WVTM 13 coming August 1

On July 25, Birmingham’s WVTM 13, owned by Hearst Television, announced they’re expanding to include CBS programming starting on August 1.
In 1949, WVTM first went on the air with a mix of programs from ABC and CBS. After decades of ownership changes, Nexstar and Paramount Skydance reached an agreement this July to once again take over CBS programming.
But don’t worry! Nothing will change with the current WVTM 13 channel. All NBC programming, local newscasts and weather will stay on the channel.
They’re just adding CBS programming to our local channel, including:
- CBS primetime shows
- CBS Sports
- CBS News
The channel positions are still being finalized, but according to WVTM 13, if you watch through cable, satellite or a streaming service, they will update you on where to find CBS programming once channel positions are finalized.
And if you watch with an antenna, your TV may automatically find it during a channel scan, but you also may need to rescan your channels on August 1.
Additionally, WIAT-42, a CBS affiliate, will become a CW-owned news station.
