Sebastian Kole, a Birmingham native who performs under the stage name Pynk Beard, has been nominated for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for his song “The Devil You Know,” featured on Prime Video’s “Spider-Noir.”
Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin celebrated the announcement on social media, tracing Kole’s journey from local roots to Hollywood success:
“Sebastian grew up in Dolomite as a preacher’s son, sang with the Birmingham Boys Choir, graduated from the University of Alabama, then moved out to LA and spent years writing hits for Alicia Keys, John Legend, Jennifer Lopez, and Alessia Cara before he ever put his own name on a record…
“This is what happens when Birmingham talent gets room to grow.”

Before stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist, Kole established himself as a powerhouse industry songwriter, releasing albums like Soup and Numb. His recent reinvention as Pynk Beard blends his deep soul and gospel foundations with country music.
In addition to writing the theme song for Spider-Noir alongside collaborator Kirby, Kole’s work on “The Devil You Know” caught the attention of the Television Academy.
