A new clinical research facility is expanding healthcare options in the Birmingham metro area. In May, ObjectiveHealth officially opened its Birmingham Digestive Health Research site in Vestavia Hills, bringing specialized gastroenterology clinical trials directly to local patients.

Advancing gastrointestinal care in Vestavia Hills

Located at 8000 Liberty Parkway, the new center focuses on conducting research and clinical trials to improve care for individuals living with liver and digestive conditions. By integrating research facilities directly into local communities, the organization aims to make clinical trial participation more accessible for patients outside of a traditional hospital setting.

The Vestavia Hills site utilizes proprietary digital health technology to match patient health profiles with appropriate studies, optimizing treatment tracking and early disease detection.

Current studies and patient resources

The facility is actively enrolling participants for several gastroenterology and advanced liver disease research studies, according to its website, including:

  • NASH clinical trials: Evaluating potential new treatment options for Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis and fatty liver disease
  • Cirrhosis research: Focusing on the management and understanding of advanced chronic liver disease
  • General digestive health studies: Investigating therapies for a variety of prevalent gastrointestinal disorders

What participants can expect

Eligible individuals who participate in the trials receive study-related care, close medical monitoring and routine health checks at no cost.

During the screening process, the site also provides complimentary diagnostic testing, including FibroScan technology to assess liver health. Depending on the specific trial, financial compensation may be available to assist with the time and travel required for clinic visits.

The site is currently accepting inquiries for its open protocols. For more details on qualifications and available studies, visit the Birmingham Digestive Health Research website.
